Physically and conceptually, the Wisconsin Estate Addition reaches towards and captures the picturesque serenity of its neighbor: Lake Michigan.

The directional thrust of the addition originates in the existing house: an axis which is used to separate living and sleeping areas is extended and accentuated in the form of a walkway. The planters serve as a transition, following the slope of the land outside from the first floor of the house to a pool-level outdoor access.
